First of all, I'm going to state that Baroque has been a trend the last couple years but realistically if you go to Europe, you will find it in many places and have been able to since it's beginnings in the late 16th Century in Italy. With that said, I have great news for those who are "trendy." Baroque is still in fashion throughout 2012! Here are a few items out just this year. FYI, Ballard Designs is a good place to go for moderately priced items.

So last year's color was Honeysuckle...which was a fancy way to say pink. :) I admit, I don't recall seeing a whole lot of it in home accessories or furnishings. Fashion on the other hand, did provide it's fair share of honeysuckle. Who know's what this year will actually mean when I tell you that Tangerine Tango is this year's Pantone color of the year. Don't ask me how they predict these trends. My guess is it's a little crystal ball mixed with a little moonshine. :) In any case, it'd like to introduce you to Tangerine Tango!!!

The actual Pantone color is really a vibrant reddish orange. Now if you can imagine this color in fabric patterns or accessories, this color will not overwhelm the average Joe or Joie. Now because tribal prints are making their way into home fashion (and runway fashio ... Read more »

Right now I'm assisting with a project based in Sun Valley, ID. This amazing kitchen is going to be VERY sleek and what we consider European. It's also going to be grey. In fact, most everything room in the home will be a version of grey/putty. THIS happens to be the newest rage in design for 2012!

Sophisticated designer classics are making a great comeback!  The Charles Eames Leather Chair and Ottoman are a fine example of how form meets function because they are as beautiful as they are comfortable. The Barcelona occasional chair is another comfy classic that is experiencing a rebirth. For the Retro/Funky buyers, there's the Arco lamp.

Every year Pantone comes out with a color that best symbolizes the spirit of the upcoming year. Last year it was turquoise. If that wasn't lively enough for ya, try this years winner; honeysuckle! This color will be seen on kitchen cabinets, entryway walls and even the dining room for those with an eye for adventure. For many of us other trendy types, honeysuckle may appear as placemats, a painting, pillows or even a favorite dress. Either way, this color is here to stay if not for forever...well at least a day. :)

Many of us like to stick with a specific type of design whether it's contemporary, post modern, traditional, etc.... Why not mix it up? Eclecticism in a space is widely underused but can be so beautiful! This picture is an extreme example of combining two completely different styles. The effect is pure beauty. The "to die for" low storage table and unique flap sofa are both by Edra furnishings of Italy.

Just four years ago my husband and I decided we were going to purchase our first home together. At the time, we were renting a 700 sq/ft. condo on First Hill and they wanted a grasping $375,000 for it. If we had the income to be able to purchase it, we likely would have. Unfortunately, within the city of Seattle anything we could afford would have been in the 500 sq/ft. range. I was in design school at the time and was very interested in small spaces. My problem was, my husband wasn't on board with downsizing from 700 sq/ft. What intrigued me with Resource Furniture's Atoll design, is that is makes a studio condo very livable. It's a great design and solves various design issues.

Trending Now....
Gold is making a comeback with its new partner...brown. This dynamic duo is monochromatic yet very sophisticated. We're still in the silver tones, but keep your eyes out for this pair by way of area rugs, home accessories and furnishings.
